CHINO Skin Care wasn’t born in a boardroom. It began with a personal journey and a single, persistent question: Why was it so difficult to find a moisturizer that truly worked?
Like so many, our founder was caught in a frustrating search. He found creams that promised relief but left his skin feeling persistently dry. Others felt heavy and oily, a mere mask of moisture. This dissatisfaction sparked a curiosity that grew into a passion. He fell down the rabbit hole of research, devouring books and scientific articles to understand the true science of hydration. He needed to know what makes a moisturizer effective, which ingredients are essential, and which are simply fillers.
The turning point was a startling discovery about the prevalence of phthalates, parabens, and petroleum byproducts like mineral oil and petrolatum in many everyday products. He learned that these ingredients, long considered staples, often create an illusion of softness. They form an occlusive film that can lock in some moisture, yes, but they don't fundamentally hydrate or nourish the skin. The feeling of softness was just that—a feeling, a slick barrier, not a sign of deep, cellular health.
This revelation was the catalyst for change. If the products he needed didn't exist, he would create them.
The journey began in his own kitchen, meticulously formulating a body butter with only the purest, most effective natural and organic ingredients he could find.
